October 12, 2008 The crew has been assigned to the Marek Fire near Santa Clarita on the Angeles NF in southern California. -------------------- Please donate to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. When tragedies occur, they are the first to respond with assistance to the victims and their families. -------------------- -------------------- The National Park Service established its Interagency Hotshot Crew program in May of 1981, the Arrowhead Hotshot crew being one of the three crews formed at that time. These three crews were the first non-Forest Service Hotshot crews established. They were also the first Hotshot Crews to be funded by the Department of the Interior. Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks has been the home unit for the Arrowhead Hotshots since the crew's inception. The crew's work center is located in the Grant Grove district of Kings Canyon National Park, California.

---------- Thanks to John Hunter (AH 1981) for sending in the Dispatch History for that year. It's very interesting to compare that first year of Arrowhead assignments to what they get now. ---------- Crew Photos for 2008 are up as well as pics from Family Day and the first couple of assignments. ---------- We're working on the 2008 Photo Gallery and we hope to have some of those photos up pretty quickly. ---------- We offer a belated congratulations! to Cristian Lopez ---------- Updated the crew dispatch history page with a new page for 2008. ---------- We are happy to announce the latest addition to our crew, Mr. John Goss, who has been hired as our new Superintendent. John comes to us directly from Horseshoe IHC, where he worked for 11 years. ---------- We are saying good-bye to Patrick Morgan after many years of service. ---------- And the dwindling continues....We now say good-bye to our one and only MadDog

The crew has gone over 1000 hours of OT this season and they're pretty happy about that! They have about 70 hours to go before breaking the all time record.
